Characters Introduced

Case Background

The victim was James Robbast, who worked as a workman in a building site. He was found beside the river with many wounds on his body.

The killer was James's workmate, Troy Lancer. James had been dating a woman called Rita Jouse shortly before his death, but Troy was also in love with her, so he planned to kill James. But he tried to make it look like Rita had commited the murder, so he paid her to go every day to the building site and argue with James. That way, Rita could not deny that James and her had arguments all the time. Troy thought the team would be fooled by his tactic, believing the victim's boyfriend had murdered him because they didn't get along. However, at the climax of the case, Troy was convicted for the crime. At first he denied everything, but when the team revealed the murder details, he confessed.

At the trial, Troy explained to the Judge that he had done that for love, because he wanted to marry Rita. Unfortunately, that was not a good reason for a murder so he was condemned to 50 years in jail.
