Evan: Gino, why didn't you ever tell us that the Lightning Phantom attacked you?
Gino: I didn't have to. Why should I mention such a thing?
Evan: Well, it seems our team has recently caught a particular interest in finding out the truth about the phantom. You should have told us.
Evan: And why did your ex-wife dennounce the phantom? Look, here it says. Suzie Robin.
Gino: Don't mention her! I'm lucky for not having met her yet since we started working here. I heard that she's still serving as a police officer in the Town Outskirts.
Gino: That stupid phantom was the reason for my divorce!
Evan: How can you issue a divorce petition because of an urban legend?
Gino: I saw the phantom and like all of their victims, I passed out after approaching the light. I woke up the next morning.
Evan: I still don't get why Suzie wanted to get divorced out of a phantom.
Gino: It was her birthday, Evan! She thought I'd gone partying on her special day. I don't want to talk about it anymore, ok? Leave me alone.

Two weeks later...

Evan: I can't believe the weather is so hot, <Name>. I hate summer! This always happens in Townville near the end of June. You end up sweating and with your tongue out.
Evan: If only Townville had beaches... We only have Holland River, that is sad.
Alan Smith: Hey, can you do me a favor? We have a criminal on the loose.
Evan: Who is it?
Alan Smith: A woman called Prudence Harris who was detained in a police station for shoplifting has just escaped. This is a photo of her.
Evan: Where can we look for her?
Alan Smith: There has been a power outage in block 64 so look for her there. It seems there was no reason for a blackout, which makes it a bit mysterious.
Evan: Don't worry, we'll go there. Power outages are very common in summer though.

Evan: Miss Harris isn't anywhere to be seen, <Name>! Where could she be?
Evan: Wait, that shop's door is open! She may be hiding there, let's take a look.
Evan: It's the police, put your hands up!

Chapter 1[]

Investigate Watchmaker's shop
Evan: I can't believe it, Prudence is dead! How can she die in this shop after having escaped a police station? This is not normal, <Name>.
Evan: Look at these marks on her breasts. We can say with certainty that she was electrocuted. She also has only one handcuff. Someone helped her break them free, I guess.
Evan: She might have done it on her own, but she doesn't look strong enough. Judging by this scenery we've stumbled upon, I'm sure that someone killed her.
Evan: Restoring that torn page could be of help too, don't you think?
Evan: We could also talk to the shop owner or an employee, but there's no one here. This wooden sign might be the shop's one but the etched words on it aren't clearly visible.
Evan: Would you please try to recover them?

Autopsy the victim's body
Daniel: Another murder by electrocution, what a tragedy. These burn marks you spotted on Prudence's chest are the result of her death.
Daniel: According to my observations, this must have been caused by a copper wire or a similar object, though you'll have to keep investigating to be sure.
Evan: Fine, we'll look for something like that.
Daniel: I also found a liquid substance on the burn marks, which means it comes from the killer. They are drops for curing some abnormalities in the eye.
Daniel: There was also some DNA under her nails, so I guess you'll want to examine it.
Evan: Of course we want to. It must come from this killer who uses eye drops.

Examine DNA
Evan: Have you finished? Ok, let me see who that DNA belongs to.
Evan: What the-?! Suzie Robin, it can't be possible! She is Gino's ex-wife, <Name>, the one who dennounced the Lightning Phantom. Why was her DNA under the victim's nails?
Evan: This means that they fought, you're right. And I don't like this, we have to talk to her seriously.

Demand answers from Suzie Robin
Evan: I'm really "glad" to talk to you again after all these years, Suzie.
Suzie: I don't want to see anyone related to my ex-husband! Besides, I have a lot of work to do and-
Evan: We're working too. Prudence Harris was found dead, and your DNA was under her nails. How can you explain that?
Suzie: She's dead?! I was the police officer in charge of her custody. She tried to escape but I managed to settle her down, I guess she clawed her nails at me that time.
Suzie: Anyway, this morning she tried again and I couldn't stop her!
Evan: How can we be sure that you didn't kill her to avoid a trouble in your carreer? Letting a prisoner escape is bad.
Suzie: I'm not that kind of people, Evan! Maybe Gino would have done such a thing.

Examine Torn page
Evan: I see, so that torn page is a map. Hey, it's a map of block 64, we're already here! This is the crime scene.
Evan: Take a look, <Name>. There's a very big terrain behind this shop. After killing Prudence here, could the killer have gone there? It's a possibility.
Evan: Let's try to figure out some escape route the killer would have followed!

Evan: It's decided, <Name>. The killer could have easily gone from the crime scene to this place. It's part of that big lot we saw on the block's map.
Evan: It looks like some really expensive country house. These are typical in this district...
Evan: Why don't we investigate and see if we find some clues?

Investigate Country house garden
Evan: You're right, <Name>, the killer could have hidden something inside that bush. Let's see what we can find within its branches.
Evan: Well, that laptop doesn't look like it has some connection to the case but we could unlock it. That may help us know more about the people from this house.

Examine Bush
Evan: Didn't I tell you? There was something in that bush and it is OBVIOUSLY a clue. The handcuff that Prudence was missing! Haha!
Evan: Time to send this to the lab, <Name>. The killer was very careless this time.

Analyze Handcuff
Lindsey: I think we can be sure this comes from Prudence's handcuffs. I traced this to the police station number 2 of the Town Outskirts, where she was detained.
Lindsey: The killer must have managed to break them in halves. It's really a hard job!
Evan: Didn't Prudence have enough strength to do it on her own?
Lindsey: Probably not. I guess nobody could do it with your hands cuffed.
Lindsey: We can also be sure that the killer did this because there were traces of skin cream on it. Prudence didn't have anything like that on her body.
Evan: The killer uses skin cream, <Name>, don't forget it!

Examine Laptop
Evan: I'm still delighted to see you unlocking these devices so perfectly. Let's give this to Lindsey and see who lives in this place. After all, the killer must have been here!

Analyze Laptop
Lindsey: This laptop is really fantastic, guys! I wish I could keep it.
Lindsey: It belongs to Luis Hayre, who also owns that beautiful house where you found this computer. I'm sure you remember the Hayre family, Evan.
Evan: Yeah, they came to a brief popularity when it was proved that they were descendants of Arthur Granell.
Lindsey: Well, this guy saved a link to an article about Prudence Harris' arrest. He must know the victim.
Evan: So we have to interrogate Luis. Thanks, Lindsey!

Tell Luis Hayre about the case
Evan: Mr Hayre, Prudence Harris was found dead in the shop that is behind your country house. What do you know about her?
Luis: I'm glad she's gone forever! Well, maybe it didn't have to be this way but it's good anyways.
Luis: That girl caused a lot of problems to my family. If she's not going to bother us anymore, then I'm happy to know we won't have to see her face again.
Evan: It nearly sounds like you were the one who killed her.
Luis: I had motives, I won't deny it. It's a shame that I couldn't do it, someone else got to her first. That's karma, <Rank> <Name>.

Examine Wooden sign
Evan: Fantastic! The sign says "Hayre Watchmaker's Shop".
Evan: Oh, I know the shop owner, <Name>! His name is Shaun Hayre, he's an old man who became somewhat famous, but we'll discuss that later.
Evan: Now, we have to talk to him about what we found in the shop.

Tell Shaun Hayre about the murder
Evan: Mr Hayre, a woman called Prudence Harris has been found dead in your shop.
Shaun: What?! I can't believe it! In my shop?!
Evan: I see that you know her.
Shaun: Of course I do. She's the shoplifter who was arrested for stealing from my shop! What was she doing there? Wasn't she arrested?
Evan: Yes, but she escaped this morning and...
Shaun: Well, that's what she got for escaping law. All of our actions have consequences!

At the police station...

Evan: Thanks for letting me return to the headquarters, <Name>. I really needed to go to the bathroom. Now, where were we?
Evan: Oh, I remember now. Prudence Harris' case, that's it. We know that she was killed at Shaun Hayre's shop. He had a motive, of course. Prudence stole from his shop.
Evan: Then we also found Suzie, Gino's ex-wife. She was taking care of Prudence and didn't notice she had escaped. A strong suspect, in my opinion.
Evan: And Luis... He really seems to be happy about the murder! What kind of things could Prudence have done to him?
Gino: <Name>, WHAT IS MY EX-WIFE DOING IN THIS POLICE STATION?!
Evan: Gino, calm down! Suzie is not here and-
Suzie: I didn't come to talk to you, Gino! I want to say something to <Rank> <Name>, I'm doing my job!!!
Suzie: <Rank> <Name>, there might be something important about Harris in the police station where I work. You should go there!

Chapter 2[]

Suzie: Yes, <Rank> <Name>. In my police station, you may find some clues regarding your murder investigation. After all, Prudence was there before she escaped!
Evan: Ok, Suzie, we'll go.
Suzie: And if my ex-husband thinks I'm still interested in him, tell him I'm already married to someone else!
Evan: O-ok. Um... Let's follow Suzie, <Name>. We need to go to that station.

Investigate District police station
Evan: This handbag must belong to Prudence, <Name>! I don't think any of the officers would leave it there so carelessly if it belonged to them, haha.
Evan: We should take a look at it. Now, that folder... "Iss... 81... rud... Harris".
Evan: That must be P-rud-ence Harris, <Name>. That folder could give us some more info about...
Suzie: Hey, do not touch that folder, Evan! That information can be read only by this station's personnel.
Evan: Then you won't mind if we recover the writing on its cover. After all, we're not allowed to look at its CONTENT.
Suzie: That's clever of you. If I see you opening the folder, be ready to pay a fine!

Examine Handbag
Evan: Wow, it looks like Prudence was really prepared to go out, <Name>! Look, she had a stun gun in her bag.
Evan: I see... the stun gun's serial code is a bit scraped off. If we decipher it, we could know where she got this from.

Examine Stun gun
Evan: The serial code starts with P1, <Name>! This means that it belongs to the police. This must trace us to some policeman...
Evan: Oh well... There are a few police codes I'll never forget, <Name>. Like mine, for example... Or Suzie's one. This stun gun belongs to her. What was it doing in Prudence's handbag?
Evan: We have to talk to her again, this is suspicious.

Return the stun gun to Suzie
Evan: Suzie, why did Prudence have your police stun gun? That handbag is hers, isn't it?
Suzie: Did she- my-?
Suzie: Oh, that criminal!!! She must have stolen it from my desk when I was putting on my skin cream. I can't believe that thief had no limits!
Evan: Was it really that? Didn't you give it to her to help her escape?
Suzie: What are you saying, Evan? Why would I do such a thing?!
Evan: I don't know, maybe because it would be suspicious if her corpse was found here. Who knows, I'm just guessing.
Suzie: Yes, you're just guessing! I am not a killer, get that into your head!

Examine Folder
Evan: I was right, <Name>! The folder says "Issue #381 regarding Prudence Harris". I doubt she committed 381 crimes, it's only this issue that is about her.
Evan: Ah, police officers work in weird ways in this district...
Evan: Well, as we can't look inside the folder, we'll have the Chief investigate it. If we're not allowed to see this, I don't think Lindsey can do it either.

Analyze Police folder
Alan: This district's police database has a security comparable to that of the Information Protection Programme! It was all of a duty to find this issue 381.
Alan: With Lindsey's help, I was able to get it. It's about a restraining order.
Evan: Why would Prudence ask for a restraining order? She was the criminal.
Alan: You're getting it wrong. The restraining order was against Prudence.
Evan: It gets interesting now! Who asked for it?
Alan: It was issued by Nina Hayre. She is Luis' wife and Shaun's daughter-in-law.
Evan: Another Hayre, <Name>. Let's go talk to Nina.

Ask Nina Hayre about the restraining order she issued
Evan: Mrs Hayre, Prudence Harris has been murdered. We know you issued a restraining order against her.
Nina: Yes, I did. I wanted her away from me and my family. Who wouldn't want a thief as far as possible? She even stole my eye drops!
Evan: Why was she inside your house?
Nina: She had no home, she had nowhere to go. She reached our hearts and took advantage of it! We let her stay in our country house for a few days, you know?
Nina: And that's how she paid us. Stealing from us and shoplifting Shaun's workplace!

A few minutes later...

Evan: At last we know what Prudence's connection with the Hayre family was! She was... a freeloader.
Evan: Nina said that she was staying at the country house with them. I'm sure we can find more evidence if we go there once again.

Investigate Collonaded veranda
Evan: Torn pages are always interesting for you, <Name>! I'd stop taking them into account if they weren't actually important once you restore them.
Evan: You also found some skin cream, huh? Just like the one the killer left on that handcuff. This one is stained with some greasy oil.
Evan: I see, we can catch a glimpse of some fingerprints in the stains. They will help us know who it belongs to.
Evan: The only thing that's left is that toolbox. You should try and open it!

Examine Torn paper
Evan: Well, it appears that it was a newspaper page. What does it say?
Evan: Oh, they are the classified ads! These ones offer... houses and apartments. Let me guess, someone was looking for a new home. We know Prudence didn't have anywhere to live.
Evan: Let's examine this in detail! It's related to the victim.

Examine Newspaper page
Evan: Fine, now that we have this saliva sample we can send it to the lab. We'd better hurry up, <Name>!

Analyze Saliva
Sabrina: This was not easy, guys! I had to work really hard to find where this saliva sample came from.
Sabrina: It's in fact a young guy, Calvin Hayre. He studies astronomy at Townville's University and is the son of Luis and Nina Hayre.
Evan: Calvin was looking for a new house, huh? I wonder if it was for him, <Name>. Let's have a chat with this boy.

Interrogate Calvin Hayre about the classified ads
Evan: Mr Hayre, I guess you already know that Prudence Harris was found dead this morning.
Calvin: What?! No, I didn't know anything!
Calvin: Sorry, I... Sh*t, I shouldn't cry, I've just put on the eye drops for my far-sightedness. I know she was a delinquent, but she had a heart!
Calvin: I wanted to help her, I was trying to find her a new house. It was useless. After all, she didn't want to live a decent life, she loved crime.
Evan: Why did you want to help her so much when she was stealing from your family?
Calvin: That's what she wanted to get from me. She caught me with her ways.

Examine Fingerprints
Evan: You did a great job, <Name>! The skin cream belongs to Shaun, the watchmaker and Luis' father. We can add it to his profile.
Evan: You're right, now that we know what Prudence's business with the Hayre family was, we should interrogate him one more time.

Talk to Shaun Hayre about the victim
Evan: Mr Hayre, you said that Prudence had stolen from your shop but you did not say that she was staying at your family's country house. Why?
Shaun: I didn't want to get my family involved in this, they aren't involved in this.
Shaun: Excuse me, Lead Inspector, I have to put on my eye drops now.
Evan: Just confess, sir. Did you kill Prudence Harris?
Shaun: I had reasons, didn't I? I had chances, but no. Someone just did me that favor.

Examine Toolbox
Evan: That is... those are...
Evan: Copper wires, <Name>! Daniel mentioned them in the autopsy results, so these are a great clue. Let's give them to him to see if it's our murder weapon or not.

Analyze Copper wires
Evan: Before you tell us the analysis results, Daniel... Do you already know what you wanted to know from Ash's hair?
Daniel: Yes, I do. What about you? Did you already get what you wanted from my hair? I'm sure you didn't really think I had killed that woman.
Evan: If you knew what my real intentions were, why did you give us your hair?
Daniel: Why shouldn't I do it? I have nothing to stash, Evan.
Evan: Is that so...
Daniel: Well, there's something more important now. These copper wires are indeed the murder weapon! I tried to find something useful to identify the culprit.
Daniel: And I noticed some burnt skin cells which did not come from Prudence! The DNA matched the one from an old research stored in our database.
Daniel: The one that proved that the Hayre family were descendants of Arthur Granell!
Evan: So as it was on the murder weapon, it comes from the killer! Thank you, Daniel. The killer is one of those with Hayre DNA in their blood, <Name>.

Some minutes after that...

Evan: The victim was a thief, and a good one! Stealing was her life.
Evan: She even managed to make Calvin fall in love with her! Anyway, having an ally inside the house, she couldn't lure the rest of the family into liking her.
Evan: I mean, Shaun, Luis, and Nina... They all seem to hate her deeply!
Evan: Definitely it was not a good idea to ask that family for a room in their house. Just look at how she ended up.
Suzie: <Rank> <Name>, I need to talk to you!
Evan: Calm down, Suzie! What happened?
Suzie: There is a man who says he killed Prudence Harris!

Chapter 3[]

Suzie: There is a man saying he is Prudence's killer, <Rank> <Name>!
Evan: Who is it?!
Suzie: I... I don't know. Some police officers tried to interrogate him but they lost him. They have an identikit though, so maybe you can know who he is.
Suzie: I'll bring the picture to you, <Rank> <Name>!
Evan: Don't worry, Suzie, we'll go there. After all, taking another look at the place where Prudence was before her death is a good idea.

Examine Suspect's description
Evan: Is really Calvin Hayre the one who confessed the murder?! I can't believe it!
Evan: If he wanted to turn himself in, why didn't he tell us when we interrogated him? We need to see what's going on with this boy.

Clear things up with Calvin Hayre
Evan: Calvin, what is this game you're playing?! Did you really kill Prudence or not?
Calvin: Yes, Lead Inspector Evan! I did! You can arrest me!
Calvin: I noticed she had even stolen my skin cream, I couldn't stand her any longer! We were opening our hearts to her and the only thing she did was seize the day!
Evan: You... you don't look like someone who would kill a person, Calvin. Why would you look for a house for the woman you love and then kill her?
Evan: Besides, she had already been arrested. So when she escaped, why would you kill her at your grandfather's shop? Why were you there?
Calvin: I... I... I don't know!
Evan: Tell us the truth, Calvin! Who are you trying to protect? Your mom, your dad, your grandpa... Which one is the killer among them?
Calvin: I killed her! You have to believe me!
Evan: The case is not closed yet, boy.

Investigate Prisoner's cell
Evan: The last criminal in this cell was Prudence. Everything we find could be related to her one way or another.
Evan: Those carton pieces might have fallen from her pocket or handbag. If we restore them, we'll know if it's relevant to the case or not.
Evan: That pillow has a hole there, <Name>. Prudence could have hidden something inside, so let's take a look!

Examine Carton pieces
Evan: Those pieces came in reality from a pack of condoms. This one brings five. Maybe Prudence had this in her pocket or somewhere else when she was arrested.
Evan: We might get some clues from it, <Name>. Let's examine it.

Examine Pack of condoms
Evan: You did it very well, <Name>! Let's send those cells you found to Sabrina.

Analyze Cells
Sabrina: You're not going to believe this, Evan! The cells you gave me come from Luis Hayre. If we take into account the place where you found them...
Sabrina: You know what I mean, don't you?
Evan: His condoms got to the police station, and the only person inside that cell was Prudence!
Evan: <Name>, this is bad. If Luis and Prudence engaged into some kind of intercourse, and either Nina or Calvin found it out, nothing good could happen.
Evan: Luis said Prudence was a criminal. It seems he thought a bit higher of her. Let's confront him.

Tell Luis to explain his relationship with the victim
Evan: You said you hated Prudence a lot, Luis. What you didn't say is that she was your lover.
Luis: Shut up, damn! Nobody can hear that! Don't make me get nervous, I can't put my eye drops on!
Luis: She wasn't my lover, you idiot. She was more like... how can I say it? A hooker.
Evan: Is that it? Did you pay Prudence to get her inside your bed?
Luis: Yes, and it was cheap! She just asked for a few dollars and borrowed my skin cream. I couldn't complain!
Evan: It was not cheap for her, Mr Hayre! She paid with her life!
Luis: Well, she didn't pay that to me, so why should I care? I'm not the one who is going to jail.

Examine Pillow
Evan: You've got a keen eye! There was indeed something inside the pillow, and it's a SIM card. If Prudence did this, we must give it to Lindsey right now.

Analyze SIM card
Lindsey: This SIM card belongs to Prudence, <Name>! It seems she was trying to leave some message behind before she went to jail... or hell.
Evan: Lindsey, you shouldn't say those things!
Lindsey: Sorry, sorry, let's say jail. Maybe she wanted the police to read the information in it. I put it in my cellphone and checked "my" messages.
Lindsey: It seems Nina hates me! She's telling me to get away from her family and she calls me horrible names. Take a look.
Evan: Wasn't a restraining order enough? <Name>, should we get more answers from that woman?

Talk to Nina Hayre about her messages to the victim
Evan: Nina, why did you send all those messages to Prudence? I think that a restraining order should have put an end to your troubles with her.
Nina: Oh, I'm nervous. Let me put on some skin cream, please.
Nina: So, those messages... Well, the restraining order was enough to keep her away from me, but not from my son! That unfortunate woman had conquered Calvin's soul!
Nina: I didn't want my son to date a thief, is that wrong?
Evan: We won't judge you for that, Nina. Just for how far you'd go to protect your son from Prudence.
Nina: Not as far as murder, Lead Inspector.

Right after that...

Evan: Prudence wasn't what we call a puritan. She got in Luis' bed and also Calvin's one. She laid her lover and his father on her father!
Evan: Maybe the killer couldn't stand such a thing anymore, but we have to arrest them anyway. Where can we find new leads?
Evan: Oh, of course, the murder scene! Let's return to Shaun's shop and put an end to this.

Investigate Shop crates
Evan: Nothing here seems to be relevant to our investigation. Possibly our clues are inside that locked box. Can you see if you're able to open the padlock?

Examine Locked chest
Evan: Wow, I knew you could do it! Now let's see what we find inside.

Examine Open chest
Evan: Oh, that's a videocamera! Hey, it's still recording! The battery is almost dead.
Evan: If I stop it, we'd be able to see what it recorded. It was at the murder scene, so it must be kind of important.
Evan: What am I saying? The only thing we'll be able to see in the video is the dark inside of that chest. We ought to let Lindsey take care of this, huh?

Analyze Video camera
Lindsey: It's a shame that Prudence closed the chest. We would've been able to see the murderer. We can only listen to the culprit killing her.
Lindsey: This was recording the whole time! Take a look.

Prudence: I can't believe it, this is great! I managed to escape from that horrible police station. It was so easy, Officer Robin never notices anything.
Prudence: Right now I'm hiding at a shop where I've already stolen a few things. They Hayre were really stupid, huh? They trusted a thief.
Prudence: And... oh, wait, someone's coming.

Lindsey: After that, we can only see nothing. You can hear Prudence scream, but Evan's a bit sensitive so I'm not going to let you listen to that part.
Lindsey: However, you can catch a brief glimpse of the person who entered the shop, also known as the killer.
Evan: What did you see?
Lindsey: They have short hair, that's for sure. And comparing their height with Prudence, I can tell they are not taller than 5 feet and 8 inches.
Evan: Haha, it's enough! I'm sure this is enough to arrest this criminal now.

Arrest killer
Evan: Luis Hayre, you are under arrest for the murder of Prudence Harris! You thought you'd fool us saying all those things about Prudence, right?
Evan: Why did you kill her? You thought she'd steal from you again when you heard she had escaped, that must be it.
Luis: I told you many times that I did not kill her!
Evan: You did! You broke her handcuffs apart and left a half in your house's garden. You also used two copper wires to electrocute her, so confess! You left them inside a toolbox.
Luis: Arrgh, I can't believe I am the one who will go to jail and not her!!!
Luis: I couldn't let her come back to my house. She had started asking for money as a blackmail, she wanted to tell my wife what we'd done!
Luis: When she was arrested, I knew she was going to escape. She was not going to jail either, it was like I'd never get ride of her. So I thought...
Luis: I told her I'd help her escape. I got those handcuffs off of her. I saw some copper wires there and I thought I'd leave no evidence if I electrocuted her.
Luis: It caused a power outage so I thought someone would come to the shop, I had to flee and I went back to the country house.

Esteban Gonzalez: Let's see, Mr Luis Hayre. You killed Miss Harris because she was going to keep stealing from you.
Esteban Gonzalez: And also because she wanted to tell everyone that you two were secret lovers.
Luis: She wasn't my lover, I was her customer! It was all about money, not about love.
Esteban Gonzalez: Miss Harris didn't try to attack you, right?
Luis: No, she did not...
Esteban Gonzalez: Ah, it's really sad to see how her greed and your lust ended up ruining both lives. It's horrible to look at the way crime leads to more crime and death.
Esteban Gonzalez: Luis Hayre, you're sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 40 years and no chance for parole. Court dismissed.

Evan: <Name>, I know I told Luis he hadn't fooled anyone but... Yes, he fooled me.
Evan: I mean, I was thinking the whole time that Nina was the killer! If she had found out that she had slept with Luis and Calvin, Prudence wouldn't have lived longer than she did.
Evan: This case was kind of heart-breaking. I wouldn't imagine that such things can happen in the Town Outskirts.
Evan: Excuse me, my phone is ringing. It's... Lindsey?
Lindsey: Evan, can you come to the station? Gino wants to talk to you and <Name> about something.
Evan: What is it?
Lindsey: Well, it's about Suzie!

Creepy Crops 4 - Transatlantic[]

Gino: Here you are! Didn't Suzie say that she was already married to someone else when she came here?
Evan: Well, yes, she did say that.
Lindsey: Gino kept asking me to check in our database if that was true, and it's not. She lied.
Evan: That's great. Why do we care about it?
Gino: Can't you see it? She lied! Why would she say such a thing? I'll find out the truth!

The next day...

Evan: Take a look, <Name>. Prudence Harris' murder is already on Jade River News. Journalists do lack delicacy after all.
Evan: Wait, this article is not about the murder. It's about the Lightning Phantom! What does Prudence have to do with that legend?
Evan: Hm... It's not about Prudence, it's about "the place where Prudence Harris' murder has been recently staged".
Evan: It says that a few neighbours claimed to see the phantom in the center of Block 64, which is the Hayre's backyard. However, the light faded some time later. There was no one in the house then.
Evan: If that light is real, it's not a ghost anyways. We should go to the place where that phantom was seen.
Gino: It would be great if you also decided to help me, don't you think?
Evan: What's with that irony, Gino? What do you need help with?
Gino: Suzie.
Evan: Oh, God, you're divorced! Why do you even care? Let's talk to her, <Name>.

Ask Suzie why she lied
Evan: Suzie, believe me, I don't care about your life but we have to ask you something. Why did you say yesterday that you were married? You're not married.
Suzie: Well, I am not, but I am in a relationship with someone. I can't say I'm "dating" a man or that I have a "boyfriend" at my age, don't you think?
Evan: So who is your boyfriend, Suzie?
Suzie: You don't care. If you want, have something from our headquarters' lunch on your way out. Goodbye.

Evan: I don't mind about Suzie's "boyfriend" but being a gossip can always be interesting. Why don't we try to figure out who she is "dating"?

Investigate District police station
Evan: This is Suzie's desk, so inside the drawer... There should be something about her private life. Can you open it?

Examine Drawer
Evan: Haha, we did it! Suzie won't be able to lie anymore, we'll look inside her drawer. Let's see... What can we find...

Examine Open drawer
Evan: We've got her, <Name>! Those two tickets are for a transatlantic, the SS Victoria. If two people go on a cruise across the sea, they must be dating, right?
Evan: Ah, it's so cliché. Lindsey is on her free day today, so we'll let the Chief see who will go to the transatlantic with Suzie.

Analyze Transatlantic tickets
Alan: Even if this wasn't Lindsey's free day, I would have to analyze these tickets anyway. The "Transatlantic SS Victoria"'s data is under the Protection Programme!
Evan: So the Mayor must be hiding crack in the ship too or something similar.
Alan: I don't really know. The ship is under the name of Zachariah Loas.
Evan: What?! Why would Loas' business be under Waters' programme?
Alan: You can discuss it with Zachariah later. These two tickets belong to Suzie Robin and Ray Louieson.
Evan: He must be Suzie's "new husband". Why don't we ask her?

Ask Suzie about the transatlantic
Evan: When does the transatlantic depart, Suzie? If I'm not mistaken, you are going there with Ray Louieson.
Suzie: Well, you ARE mistaken because he is not the man I'm with. Ray is a very good friend of my husband who bought him the transatlantic tickets.
Suzie: If you want to know who my husband is, I'm sorry. I won't tell you.
Evan: Why can't you tell us? Aren't we reliable people?
Suzie: Of course I rely on <Rank> <Name>, but not on you, Evan. If I tell you something, you'll go and tell Gino. And of course I don't rely on him either.
Suzie: I'm sorry for you having wasted your time, so I'll give some money to your team. Bye bye!

Investigate Collonaded veranda
Evan: The phantom is not around here, obviously. Everything looks like yesterday... except for that torn page. It's the only clue we have, so... you know.

Examine Torn page
Evan: This paper has a drawing, it looks like a person with no face. Could it be the phantom?
Evan: Those stains are covering some words with might be helpful. We should try and see if we can recover it.

Examine Diagram
Evan: There are some notes about this drawing. "Soft pale yellowish light". It must be the phantom then. I've never seen it but it's a light, so...
Evan: "White face". So they must be hiding their true face with something white.
Evan: "Soporific, formula may change and improve". Soporifics are supposed to make you fall asleep, right? That might explain why the ones who approach the phantom pass out.
Evan: The phantom is surely a person in disguise, but we don't know if this diagram is about the phantom or not. I'll send it to the lab.

Analyze Diagram
Sabrina: I read some popular theories and blog posts about the Lightning Phantom which were all written by witnesses who saw the creature.
Sabrina: And these notes match the descriptions I found of the phantom, so this diagram is about it. Or them.
Evan: So they have a white face?
Sabrina: It's probably a trick to conceal their identity. Whatever, the most interesting thing is that I found this handwriting in our database.
Sabrina: It belongs to Calvin Hayre, <Name>! He's the one interested in the phantom.
Evan: That boy must know something, he'll be able to help us. Let's talk to him, <Name>!

Talk to Calvin Hayre about the Lightning Phantom
Evan: Calvin, we found your notes about the Lightning Phantom. What do you exactly know about this matter?
Calvin: I... er... um... I can't tell you! Why do you want to know?
Evan: We're the police, we're allowed to know everything. You must be some kind of researcher, right?
Calvin: Uh... I...
Calvin: Yes, that's it! I'm investigating the Lightning Phantom but... shh, it's a secret. You can't tell anybody, ok? Please, keep my research a secret.
Calvin: If somebody find out I'm doing this, I might be targetted by tha phantom!
Evan: I don't think the phantom is some kind of Italian mobster but we will keep your secret.
Calvin: Thanks very much! I'll let you have some clothes from my grandpa's shop. Please accept them!

A while later...

Evan: At least we know that we have an ally now against the Lightning Phantom, <Name>. Yes, I mean Calvin.
Gino: <Name>, Evan! Chief Smith told me that Suzie was going on a cruise with a man! Is that true?
Evan: Yes, it is. A certain Ray Louieson is the one who bought the tick-
Gino: Ray Louieson, I won't forget that name!
Evan: Hey, Gino, wait! He's not...
Evan: Oh, he left. I wonder what Gino could do with that information.
